Integrated Social & Institutional Development for Empowerment (InSIDE-North East) is a youth-led nonprofit based in Manipur, born out of conflict and driven by compassion to rebuild lives and communities through peace, education, and empowerment. What began with music and community engagement has evolved into a broader movement addressing women’s empowerment, child rights, health, livelihoods, environmental sustainability, and youth development. Through its flagship Gun2Pen programme, InSIDE-North East promotes life skills, education, gender equality, livelihood support, and civic responsibility. The organization conducts awareness campaigns, vocational and career training, organic farming initiatives, and peace-building workshops to nurture confident, skilled, responsible, and self-reliant youth. The words from former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, "Mr. Misao, I can well understand how challenging it is to work in the environment of Manipur. Yet, never underestimate the value of your efforts. Every action, whether big or small, contributes to the larger task of nation-building", continue to echo in my mind, serving as a constant source of inspiration and motivation, Hejang Misao recalled. Recognized by Rashtrapati Bhavan and local authorities, InSIDE-North East continues to inspire inclusive growth and harmony across communities in North East India. Among its transformative initiatives, the Futgal Girls Football Tournament provides girls with opportunities to showcase their talent, challenge gender stereotypes, and develop leadership, teamwork, resilience, and confidence. Conducted in a league format, the tournament brought together teams from different communities, fostering healthy competition, friendship, mutual respect, and greater acceptance of girls in sports and leadership spaces. In another pioneering initiative, InSIDE-North East introduced Ultimate Frisbee to young people in Manipur in collaboration with Flying Rabbits, Belgium, Playquity, and local NGO partner MANEDA. The first Ultimate Frisbee tournament in the state promoted equal participation, teamwork, leadership, integrity, fair play, and conflict resolution. Through the sport’s unique “Spirit of the Game,” participants learn to follow rules responsibly, respect others, resolve differences peacefully, and value cooperation. Through these initiatives, InSIDE-North East continues to create inclusive opportunities for young people, empower women and girls, strengthen community relationships, and promote peace and harmony. Its work contributes to building confident, resilient, and socially responsible communities while advancing equality and sustainable development across Manipur and Northeast India.

For a few hours, the worries of displacement, uncertainty and difficult days gave way to something different—laughter, cheers, teamwork and the simple joy of playing together. The Inspirational Sports 2026 Relief Camp Men’s & Women’s Volleyball Tournament was more than a sporting event. It was a space where young people could pause from the realities surrounding them and rediscover the strength that comes from being part of a team. With every serve came courage. With every rally came determination. And with every cheer from the sidelines came a reminder that hope can thrive even in the most difficult circumstances. For participants from the relief camps, the volleyball court became more than a playing field—it became a place to belong, express, connect and heal. Winning was not measured only by points on the scoreboard, but by the confidence built, friendships strengthened and smiles brought back to faces. Beyond the game, we played for hope. Beyond the score, we played for healing. Together, we rise.
